IV. Community Involvement

Hurricane Milton community relief project

This is an ongoing list of relief efforts given back to the community since day one of the tornados moving through the Port Salerno area.

  • Provided collectively 80+ hours of extensive debris/tree removal after Hurricane Milton in local communities

  • Create site plans/prep alongside Project Lift for tiny homes

  • Organized mitigation planning for tornado relief with Elev8hope and SOS

  • Organized multiple days with volunteers for tornado relief

  • Worked alongside Toby Overdorf to coordinate resources for the community

  • Assisted with debris removal, demolition, and permitting

Rupp Family

When a local family faced an unimaginable tragedy of a young mother passing away, leaving behind a husband and two young kids. Our members looked for guidance and possible resources to help them out. A take them a meal campaign was organized, providing nearly three months of nourishing meals for the two children and their father. A huge thank you to everyone who cooked and delivered!

We also extend our deepest gratitude to Rina from Elev8hope, whose generous donation of three months' worth of pantry staples, along with opening up her organization late into the night after the incident for initial two weeks of meals, provided crucial sustenance during this difficult time.

Understanding the emotional toll of such a loss, she also connected the family with a dedicated crisis worker. This professional will provide essential support to the children during their transition, working with their school to arrange excused absences and access to free extended day care when needed.

Finally, our member Billy Jones assisted one of their family members in setting up a GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral and medical expenses. The response was overwhelming! Donations quickly met and surpassed the goals, allowing the family to focus on healing without the added burden of financial worries. Immediately starting the contributions of $250 to the campaign from our community relations budget. As of now on February 2nd, the GoFundMe is currently at $20,000 with a goal of $40,000

Smoke stained vehicle

Christian Cameruski from Cameruski’s Auto detailing generously donated detailing services to a family of five in Rio, FL, whose van, parked in their driveway, was impacted by smoke and soot from a fire that damaged their home. We contacted Christian, and without hesitation, he purchased the necessary chemicals to remove the smoke damage and soot.
